AI Mortgage Workflows: Opportunity and Oversight

OMS has integrated with Keychain, bringing AI-supported document analysis and verification, digital fact finds, medical questionnaires, secure document collection and e-signing into broker workflows. Separately, Finova and Leeds Building Society are offering brokers a three-month trial of an AI-powered application tool, signalling that AI-enabled case packaging is moving from experimentation towards day-to-day distribution.

For advisers, the opportunity is to reduce rekeying, identify missing evidence earlier and improve application readiness. But AI should remain subject to clear human review: firms need to validate outputs, protect client data, retain a suitable audit trail and ensure that suitability, affordability and vulnerability considerations are not reduced to automated prompts. Reports of AI-generated bulk submissions affecting ombudsman processes are a timely reminder that automation without controls can create conduct and operational risk.
