Novello Chartered Surveyors has joined the Open Property Data Association while preparing an AI-powered platform intended to convert property inspections into structured digital data. The development points towards a more data-led property process, potentially improving how survey findings are recorded, shared and analysed across the homebuying journey.
For mortgage advisers, better-quality and more standardised property data could eventually reduce friction around valuation queries, condition issues and client updates. It may also support earlier identification of cases that require specialist input. However, AI-generated property insights should supplement, not replace, a qualified surveyor’s judgement, especially where lending security, material defects or a client’s onward purchase decision is at stake.
- Opportunity: More structured data may help advisers set realistic timescales and communicate valuation or survey risks earlier.
- Risk focus: Check data provenance, consent, accuracy and escalation routes when integrating third-party property technology into adviser workflows.
