AI Targets Mortgage Administration Delays

Conveyancing capacity is becoming a significant transaction risk. The number of solicitors practising in residential conveyancing has fallen by more than 2,000 since the end of 2021, while average time to exchange has reached around 123 days. Delays can expose clients to expired offers, changing rates and heightened uncertainty across the purchase chain.

Technology providers are responding: JammJar has added AI document analysis, an enhanced assistant and a communications hub bringing together email, SMS and calls. NAVRO Compliance has also become an authorised Mortgage Lenders’ Handbook partner, underlining the sector’s focus on more digitally supported conveyancing processes.

For advice firms, AI may reduce repetitive administration by extracting information from documents, flagging missing evidence and creating clear client updates. The practical value is not simply speed: it is better visibility of stalled cases and earlier intervention. Firms should test accuracy, preserve an audit trail, safeguard personal data and ensure staff validate outputs before relying on them.
